Dublin LGBTQ Pride Festival 2009: Overview

From the festival launch night on the 19th June, until the Parade Day on the 27th, Dublin’s Pride Festival aims to offer events for all tastes and age-groups.

This year we are organising céilís, sports days, club nights, workshops, community street festivals, remembrance ceremonies... the list goes on! This year we've added an extra element with a dedicated set of Arts & Cultural events including the 1st Pride Film Shorts competition, art exhibitions and a Pride zine, literary & poetry night. We are also delighted to include Queer Notions in our listings, put together by thisispopbaby, celebrating queer performances and ideas from Ireland and beyond. For an up-to-date agenda of what's on this year be sure to keep checking back to the Events section of the website.

Our flagship event is the Dublin Pride Parade itself, which takes place the last weekend of June. Last year, over 5,000 people turned out for the parade and the outdoor show that followed in the amphitheatre of the civic offices. This year even greater numbers are expected at this years' parade, so be sure to come along to this fantastic event.

In addition to the events themselves, we're also putting great importance on media relations this year. In previous years, we had exposure and articles in all the national media agencies. This year, we are engaging with media agencies strategically so as to maximise and optimise that exposure.
